The Graduate Recruitment Playbook
A free 24-page guide for international students looking for internships and graduate roles — written by our co-founder after 600 applications, 60-70 interviews and 6 offers.
Set it up in an afternoon and run it every week you are looking. Take what works, change what does not.
What is inside
- 01
The idea: stop playing the lottery
Why 600 applications mean nothing on their own, and the three ideas the rest of the playbook is built on.
- 02
The method: apply in batches
Work in batches of 100, review every 20, and split roles into three tiers so effort matches what a job is worth to you.
- 03
Set up your AI job-search system
One project, four chats, three files: the exact prompts for context, master resume, applications and batch review.
- 04
Where you stall, and what to fix
No interviews, or interviews but no offers? Each stage points at a different fix, so you change one thing at a time.
- 05
The hidden job market
How to find roles before they are advertised, and the four moves that turn a conversation into a referral.
- 06
Spotlights: business, technology, engineering, health and your own field
Who actually hires in each field, where the roles sit, and a prompt to build a spotlight for a field we did not cover.
- 07
International student essentials
Visa and work-rights basics on one page, so you know what to say when an employer asks.
- 08
Why this might not work (and what to do then)
An honest look at the limits, and what to try when the system has had a fair run.
A note from Chirag
In 2023, in my final year at the University of Sydney, I was exactly where you are now: looking for jobs and working out how anyone actually gets hired in Australia. I sent around 600 applications, which led to 60-70 interviews and 6 offers. Somewhere along the way, I stopped treating applications as a numbers game and started treating them as experiments: try something, see where it breaks, fix that one thing. This playbook is that system, made simple enough to set up in an afternoon.
